This is a full-time hybrid role for a Backend Developer at Poterby Tech in Lagos, with flexibility for some remote work. The Backend Developer will be responsible for developing and implementing user-facing features, ensuring the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs, optimizing applications for maximum speed and scalability, and collaborating with back-end developers and web designers.

Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure server-side applications.

Build and manage APIs and integrations with internal and third-party services.

Optimize application performance for speed and scalability.

Ensure data protection and implement best practices for security.

Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements.

Manage and maintain databases, ensuring data consistency and reliability.

Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes.

Troubleshoot and debug production issues to ensure system stability.

Contribute to technical documentation and development standards.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) is a plus.

Proven experience as a Backend Developer or similar role.

Strong proficiency in one or more backend technologies such as Node.js, Python (Django/Flask), or PHP (Laravel).

Experience working with databases like MongoDB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.

Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).

Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.

Good understanding of DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
